Lael Osness is a fashion designer and creative professional with experience in womenswear and menswear design, creative direction, project management, costume production, custom design, and tailoring, between NY and LA in the performance arts, and fashion industry. Lael has developed her skills in a broad range of companies in both New York City and Los Angeles, from privately-owned start up and small-scale boutique fashion houses to prominent film industry costuming outlet Mutto Little (LA), to an international label (Prada, LA). Within this time, Lael has consistently produced a superior level of product working within demanding timelines, and has not only accumulated a vibrant group of industry contacts, but has also curated an outstanding body of work which showcases her passion and innovation for design.
After studying Fashion Design at Parsons, The New School for Design (NY), Lael worked as assistant designer for Nary Manivong and Aly Hilfiger’s womenswear brand NAHM (NY), assistant custom designer for Asher Levine NY Studio, and product developer for exclusive ballet outfitter Gaynor Minden (NY).
Feeling the desire to test her talents on the west coast, Lael relocated to Los Angeles, where she began securing custom commission orders for Beyonce, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Grimes, Fletcher, Normani, MAC Cosmetics, Migos, Jessie J, Halsey, Kali Uchis, MO, Fifth Harmony and Olivia Von Halle, and honed her skills in couture tailoring at Prada, while gaining experience in celebrity design with custom projects for Marilyn Manson, Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga, Fifth Harmony, Will I Am, and Zayn Malik. Lael regularly works on projects in both New York and Los Angeles as they arise.
In the world of stage, Lael has completed various projects in the performing arts for The Geffen Playhouse (LA), Pilobolous (New York City), Le Ballet Trockadero de Monte Carl de Monte Carlo (New York City), La Canterina for Temple University (Philadelphia), On Edge for the Pennsylvania Ballet (Philadelphia), and most recently Meredith Monk’s Atlas for the LA Opera (LA).
Lael now focuses her attention on designing her own signature line of couture gloves. She is currently involved with a list of collaborative projects and in filling private client commissions for her elegant and timeless gloves. Her brand may be viewed at laelosness.com.
